FRIENDS OF SUMEI ![]() ![]() With offices in Washington, DC and New York, and more than 5,000 organizational and individual members and stakeholders across the country, we are focused on three primary goals: Foster an environment in which the arts can thrive and contribute to the creation of more livable communities. Generate more public- and private-sector resources for the arts and arts education. Build individual appreciation of the value of the arts. ![]() ![]() ![]() Created in 1979 to encourage continued development of the arts and to support arts programs on a regional basis, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is dedicated to growth and appreciation of the arts throughout the region, the nation and the world. Foundation programs encourage the creation of new works of art, promote new relationships and ideas within the performing arts community, build new audiences, advocate for the arts in education and connect the arts and artists of the mid-Atlantic region to the rest of the nation and the world. A private, non-profit organization, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation depends on its state arts agency partners and the National Endowment for the Arts to bring the highest quality arts programming and services available to artists , audiences, and the public. The agency provides leadership, direction, and technical assistance through partnerships with Newark's many artists, arts administrators, community organizations, community development corporations, planning groups, economic development agencies, and the general public. Our goal is to share resources, promote advocacy efforts, assist in audience development and public awareness of arts and culture, and to serve as a cultural resource to the community. ![]() As a result of our grant programs, the NJSCA is the largest single contributor to the arts in New Jersey. We are also an advocate for arts activities and events in our state's communities, schools, hospitality centers and urban entertainment complexes. In addition to direct funding to arts organizations and projects, the NJSCA supports activities and events carried out by non-profit organizations and artists whose combined efforts move nearly a billion dollars through our state's economy every year. We urge you to view the information presented herein to fully understand and appreciate the impact that the NJSCA's programs and services have in providing for a better New Jersey through the arts.
